Trois Pistoles was named after the Canadian “Legend of the Black Horse.” The legend states that a priest was given a mighty black horse that would work tirelessly to help transport the stones necessary to build a church. The one condition was that if the bridle of the horse was removed, the horse would be lost. After working the horse for long hours, an uninformed worker removed the bridle from the horse, revealing that the horse was a devil horse, which disappeared soon after. To this day, there still one stone atop of one of the church walls that still had yet to be laid.
In this Canadian brewed Belgian Dark Ale, you should taste a subtle sweetness that is only enhanced when you get hit with flavors of roasted malt, cocoa, ripe fruit, and spice. The light smokey aroma with dark fruits is to die for, and is a little uncharacteristic for the style, but I’m not complaining!
